I take it you used Zbrush to get in all the little details? Is that program hard to learn? I've been wanting to upgrade my pipeline to include Zbrush/mudbox for work but I haven't been able to learn it yet and frankly I'm worried it'll be really hard...
really nice finished result I like all the branches and leaves, thats alot of work. I also did a tree/bark based character for dominance war 3. The normal mapping on this looks a bit flat, maybe its the lighting? have you tried viewing it in xnormal? I got my best realtime renders from xnormal
There are millions of good zbrush tuts out there and personally I didnt think it was hard to learn at all. Try it out. I wrote an intro tutorial on using zbrush if you are interested [link]

I haven't used xnormals viewer before but ill check it out. I used unreal for my realtime renders and for some reason it does tend to wash out the normals a bit. anyways, thanks for the comment

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
